What Is Online Degree Completion and How Does It Work?
Online degree completion is a means to complete one’s degree online if a person has previous college credit. That’s it. Nothing more and nothing less. How it works is a different story. All online degree universities have different means of evaluating a students prior credit with some being more liberal than others. Some examples of how the credits are evaluated would be the grade earned in a prior college course, what school was it earned through, and how long ago was the credit earned.
Also one online degree college may require a greater or lesser number credits to enter a degree completion program than another. There really are no standards when it comes to education institutions and how the design a program such as online degree completion. It truly becomes the responsibility of the perspective student to evaluate the degree completion program as their as individual as the online degree schools offering them.
As a person with prior college work that could be documented, you would identify an online degree completion program you’d like to apply to. The online degree college would ask for supporting documentation of your prior college and it would be evaluated against their criteria for acceptance. Once finished the school would contact you to complete the enrollment process if accepted. If you weren’t accepted, they would explain why and how to address deficiencies with your application to meet the minimums to be accepted.
Overall, online degree completion can be an effective way to leverage prior college course work to earn a degree. The key is finding a solid program from a good school.
