The Evolution of Online Degree Schools
Imagine a time when the internet didn’t exist. Phones connected with a thick cord that ran from their base to the wall of every home. To place a call you had to slowly turn each number on the rotary dial until it clicked back to its starting position to spin the next number.
Speed dial wasn’t even a concept in the mind of the average person.
Texting would have been viewed with the same wonder as President John F. Kennedy committing man to the Moon.
Music either came over the radio, on a vinyl record, or if you were lucky an 8-track tape deck. The term MP3 would be as foreign to the world as introducing a new language that nobody ever heard before.
Cars didn’t have air bags, CD players, halogen headlights, or traction control systems to keep them on the road.
Email wasn’t even a concern of the U.S. Postal service who diligently promised the delivery of a piece of snail mail through rain, shine, sleet, or snow.
This was the world that gave birth to online degree schools and distance education.
